Who IS this guy?
What’s this? An “about me” page on a professional web designer’s website? But aren’t those guys supposed to be untouchable robots or something? Perish the thought! As a one-man operation, my clients get to know me (and my email address) pretty well. After running this operation for a few years now, I figured maybe I should introduce myself up front.
I’ve completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Eastern Washington University (there’s a link, now stop asking me for alumnus money!), and I’m currently employed as a software developer in Helena, Montana. To combat the laziness naturally inherent in programmers, I operate Caffeine & Crayons Web Design during evenings, weekends, sick days, and federal bank holidays.
I’m the father of two...lively...kids and the unworthy husband of a beautiful, supremely-talented wife. I also play guitar and co-lead worship at my local church (Crossroads Christian Church). I would describe my skill with the guitar as “enthusiastic amateur,” meaning that I love playing more than (I’m sure) people enjoy listening. As such, I often advertise that I will consider bartering my services for guitars; next to electronic gadgets, guitars are my weak spot.
As implied above, I’m a dedicated, born-again Christian who strives to be an effective part of the church body here in Helena. I believe that God lives and works in every aspect of our lives, and as such, my goal is to do all of my work “as working for the Lord, not for men” (Colossians 3:23). On a professional level, that translates into a dedication to fair, honest business practices and the best web designs I can provide at a given time. I will not develop a website that promotes pornography, gambling, or other explicity anti-Christian themes. In the past, I have turned down artists with nudity in their galleries; I refuse to aid in contributing such content to the web.
On a lighter note, I enjoy giving churches and small businesses an effective, clean-looking platform to showcase themselves on the web. My first “client” site was built for Sunrise Church, my home church in Spokane, Washington, back in 1996. I currently manage the websites for the two churches referenced above, and I’ve recently completed a site design for another church in the Helena area.
I’ve also designed for an industrial pipe distributer, a rental property management company, an attorney, two local general contracting companies, a custom furniture designer, a pie baker, a health insurance plan, a property owners’ association...even a denturist! There are very few limits to what I’ll design for.
Well, enough about me. I apologize if I bored you with all of this, but let’s be fair; if you read it, you were probably bored already.
